Petra De Sutter

vice-eersteminister en minister van Ambtenarenzaken, Overheidsbedrijven, Telecommunicatie en Post

Wanneer ze op 1 oktober 2020 wordt ingezworen als Vice-eersteminister en Minister voor Ambtenarenzaken en Overheidsbedrijven onder het premierschap van Alexander De Croo, heeft Petra De Sutter er reeds 6 jaar politieke ervaring opzitten. Na een rijkelijk gevulde carrière als gynaecologe en fertiliteitsspecialist, brengt haar verontwaardiging rond schadelijke stoffen in onze leefomgeving haar in de politiek.

In de Belgische Senaat en de Raad van Europa komt De Sutter tevens op voor de seksuele en reproductieve gezondheid en rechten van vrouwen, en werkt ze rond bio-ethische kwesties zoals draagmoederschap en commerciële eiceldonatie. Daarnaast zet ze zich ook in voor een socialer Europa en de bescherming van vluchtelingen en mensen uit de LGBTI-gemeenschap.

In 2019 belandt De Sutter als lijsttrekker voor Groen in het Europees Parlement. Daar zetelt ze niet enkel in de Commissie voor Volksgezondheid en Milieubeheer en de Commissie voor Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid, maar wordt ze ook meteen de eerste groene Voorzitter van de Commissie Interne markt en Consumentenzaken.

Als vakminister maakt De Sutter, onder andere, werk van een duurzamere e-commerce in ons land en ze investeerde volop in projecten om de digitale kloof te dichten, zodat iedereen mee is met de snelle digitalisering. Als vice-eersteminister waakt ze over de groene lijn in het bredere regeringsbeleid. De grootste investering in hernieuwbare energie ooit of het elektrificeren van de bedrijfswagens zijn daar de beste voorbeelden van.

De Sutter wil bouwen aan een samenleving die sociaal, inclusief en vooruitstrevend is. Haar authenticiteit en dossierkennis zorgen ervoor dat ze gerespecteerd en vertrouwd wordt over partijgrenzen heen.
